Coming up we have Just Shoot Me: A Christmas Dramedy in Three Acts by Kaimana Wolff. Just Shoot Me is a winner of the 2009 Nakai Players 24-hour Playwrighting Contest. That’s right — Wolff wrote three acts of awesome in just 24 hours.

There are a few more plays that we’ll be putting out, but I don’t want to announce them just yet.

As well, I am considering holding a contest, of some sort, to put together an anthology. Currently just an idea at the back of my head, but I’ll let you know what happens as it develops.

Right now the wheels are rolling to get Bitters published and on shelves. Our estimated publishing date is August 8th, 2009 — not quite as cool as 08/08/08, but what can you do?

I for one am incredibly excited about Kaimana Wolff’s latest work: it’s exciting, it’s sexy, and it’s deep. A truly well-crafted piece of work, one gets drawn in before she realizes what’s happened to her. The characters are real and their stories are poignant. I’m sure that you all will enjoy it as much as I have while editing it and getting it ready for print.

I hope to see many of you at the book launch on August 21st. Kaimana and I will both be there, tasting absinthe and being generally Dionysian. It promises to be an unforgettable night.

On another subject: Motley Crew House is now accepting submissions of manuscripts. As said in the About page, we are a theatrical publishing house first and foremost. I want to see new plays from Canadian playwrights! (Or plays from new playwrights.) Or academic books on theatre history, or other sorts of dramatic texts.

We are also accepting other literary submissions — poetry, novels, novellas — but precedence is given to works of a dramatic or theatrical nature.
